Event Program

The Race

The race for the SYC Menere's BMW Cup is scheduled for Friday 5th December 2008, with a pursuit handicap start of 1400 for the first yacht away. The style of race ensures a close finish with the winner being the first yacht across the finish line. You will need to be at the Sandringham Yacht Club (SYC) by 1200 to change, meet your skipper and enjoy refreshments prior to making your way to the yacht. You will then board your yacht and be briefed on its operation and the race. Yachts will be competing this year for the SYC Menere's BMW Cup 2008 Trophy for overall line honours and a range of additional trophies and other prizes will be awarded on the day.

1200   Arrive at SYC register and receive your Menere's BMW showbag including the event merchandise.  Meet your skipper and experienced racing crew whilst enjoying food and beverages prior to boarding your yacht
1300   Welcome by the Commodore of SYC
1400   The race begins!
1630   After race festivities commence
1800   Introduction of event proceedings
1830   Trophy presentation and guest speaker
2000   Festivities conclude

  • Each company will also receive a profile in the bi-annual SYC Magazine, 'Off the Wind', which reaches in excess of 2000 people.

After Race Entertainment - Partners and Guests Welcome

Enjoy the after race festivities with Master of Ceremonies, Glenn Ridge whilst savouring on freshly shucked oysters, wandering substantial food items, dry bars and roving entertainment for all to enjoy.  This will be a casual and relaxed setting.  Additional guests such as partners are more than welcome to attend this component of the event program without participating in the sail.  An additional cost of $75 per person plus GST will be incurred.

Corporate Battle Flags

Each yacht has the possibility of flying a battle flag advertising your company name (maximum size 2000mm x 1500mm) thus increasing your corporate profile during the race. You are encouraged to compete under your company battle flag to add to the fun and competition of the day.

The Benefit

The day is a different and exciting way of entertaining your clients and or staff in a sporting activity that is not easily accessible. A fun filled day with involvement for clients and business associates on the water whilst networking with a wide range of corporate leaders in diverse areas of business.
